Mike Konran


Mike has been with the Software Engineering Institute at Carnegie Mellon University since 1988. During that time, he has served in various roles including: Manager, CMMI Modeling Team, Architect for the CMMI Product Suite (following Roger Bate’s retirement), Chair of the CMMI Configuration Control Board (CCB) and Leader, or co-leader for every version of CMMI for Development.

Previous to CMMI, Mike was a member of the teams that developed the original Software CMM Version 1.0 and ISO 15504. Recently, Mike co-authored an SEI Technical Note titled CMMI or Agile: Why Not Embrace Both! co-written with three Agilistas and published in November 2008.

Mike was part of a team that included Rusty Young, Dave Zubrow, Bob Stoddard, and Will Hayes that strived to help improve interpretations of the CMMI high-maturity practices. Also, Mike is a member of the International Process Research Consortium. Prior to the SEI, Mike worked with several companies in computer science-related positions, including ISSI, SAIC, and Honeywell and briefly with George Mason University. Mike obtained his Ph.D. in Mathematics in 1978 from Ohio University, Athens, Ohio.
